A Visit to Brookhaven National Labs:
State of the Art Computing on Long Island

At this special event, AITP members will enjoy a tour of the New York Blue supercomputer at BNL. With a peak performance of 103.22 teraflops (trillion floating-point calculations per second), New York Blue will allow computations critical for research in biology, medicine, material science, nanoscience, renewable energy, climate science, finance and technology. 8:00 AM to 8:45 - Continental Breakfast sponsored by AITP-LI
8:45 AM to 11:00 - Tour of New York Blue super computer and, if time allows, we will also tour the BNL super collider.
Costs: There is no cost to members for this special event.
Registration: Pre-registration for this AITP event is required. To register, contact Ken Mole (kenmole@aol.com, or 516-785-6503).
Security: PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED BY MAY 9, 2008. Due to security at BNL, anyone who is not pre-registered will not be admitted to the BNL facility. If you are not a US citizen, security clearance must be obtained in advance. Information regarding parking and admittance will be forthcoming for members who pre-register.
The tour is strictly limited to 40 attendees and registration is on a first come, first served basis. This event is for current AITP members only, as of May 9, 2008.
